Obituary: Wm. Taylor Flaska, 23
The Grosse Pointe South High School graduate Wm. Taylor Flaska scored the winning goal for the 2007 State Hockey Championship game against Muskegon Mona Shores.
Wm. Taylor Flaska, 23, most recently of California, died suddenly June 15. He graduated from and grew up in .
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 24, from 1 to 9 p.m. at in Grosse Pointe Park with a 7 p.m. service, which will include eulogies from family and friends.
According to the memorial on Verheyden's website, "Taylor had a heart that was bigger than life and so his legacy will live on..."

He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Roxanne Flaska and his brother, Connor Flaska.
Dozens of families from the Grosse Pointes have expressed their condolences to the Flaska family on Verheyden's website, expressing sorrow but also sharing stories and photos.

Flaska is remembered for his state championship winning goal against Muskegon Mona Shores High School in 2007, of which there is a video on YouTube.There is also a video depicting the celebration of the players after the winning goal in which they tackle Flaska as a team. It was his third goal of the game and earned the team the state title.
The Grosse Pointe Public School Board also recognized the team for their achievement a few weeks after the game, according to minutes from a meeting in June 2007.
He was active in hockey for years through the Grosse Pointe Hockey Association before moving to South's high school team. Flaska also played baseball for Grosse Pointe South High School early in his high school career.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, June 25, at 10 a.m. at .
The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Taylor Flaska Endowment Fund c/o Grosse Pointe Hockey Association. They should be sent to Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230.
