Grosse Pointe Police Blotter: Jewelry Reported Stolen

A 67-year-old resident reported several pieces of jewelry stolen from his home on Tonnacour. The man discovered the jewelry missing Aug. 8 and had last seen it in the drawer where it is kept Aug. 6. After discovering it missing, he looked for it first and then he surmised it was stolen. He talked to a woman who works for him explaining he would offer a reward. The woman said she was not familiar with the jewelry and did not know anything and then left the house. The man told police no one other than family and the employee were in the house during the time frame in which it was stolen. The jewelry included two necklaces, which were valued at $200 and $800 respectively, according to a report.

Intoxicated Teen Arrested in Church Parking Lot

Grosse Pointe Farms police issued a citation for minor in possession to an 18-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man after discovering him intoxicated on church grounds Aug. 14 about 2 a.m. A patrol officer saw the teen with another teen from Grosse Pointe Farms walking on the grounds of beyond the sign posted that says 'Private Property No Trespassing.' Upon inquiring what the two were doing on the grounds, the officer smelled alcohol. Both teens were offered a portable breath test, but one refused. The other did not have any alcohol in his system. He was released from the scene. The Park teen refused the test and failed several field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody due to the level of intoxication visible to the officers and given a citation, according to a report.

Traffic Stop Ends in Felony Warrant Arrest

Grosse Pointe Farms police who conducted a traffic stop for an vehicle that was without one headlight ended up arresting the driver on a felony warrant from another jurisdiction and for providing false information to police. The car was driving near Mack Avenue and Opal about 9:45 p.m. Aug. 12. During the stop, the passenger, who ended up being arrested, provided police with several names and dates of birth. When he was brought back to the station, police positively identified him and he admitted being that person. He was arrested and the other jurisdiction, Plymouth, was contacted about the arrest, according to a report.

Repeated Egging Damages House

A Grosse Pointe Farms woman reported damage to her house by egging Aug. 12. The woman called police and reported that the damage has happened over a month's time and may be related to two teenage girls who have been "bullying" her own teenage daughter—making her fear speaking up and retaliation. The woman told police she intends to install video surveillance cameras to catch the egging on camera. She also reported seeing one person leaving the house after one time and enter a silver SUV with a Grosse Pointe South sticker on it, according to a report. In another report filed Aug. 6, the woman told police it was the fifth time her house had been egged in a month. She saw the same silver SUV and found it parked at a home on a nearby street where loud music could be heard and beer cans littered the driveway.

Drunken Driving Arrests

Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 23-year-old Beverly Hills man Aug. 12 about 2:30 a.m. near Kercheval and Washington for drunken driving. The man was speeding and was stopped. During the traffic stop, several field sobriety tests were administered. He had slurred speech and did not follow directions well. He had a 0.16 percent blood alcohol level and admitted to drinking at a birthday party and a class reunion before being stopped, according to a report.

In a similar arrest, Grosse Pointe Farms police arrested a 24-year-old Pontiac woman Aug. 11 about 6:15 a.m. on Lake Shore Road near Provencal for drunk driving. She had been driving 61 mph in a 35 mph zone. The woman had a 0.13 percent blood alcohol level and told officers initially she had not been drinking but later said she had a few beers before being stopped. The woman said she was heading to Hazel Park but could not identify where she was or on what road she was driving, according to a report.
