Senate Candidate Bob Young To Address Eastside GOP

Bob Young, former Michigan Supreme Court Justice and current U.S. Senate candidate, will speak at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, to the Eastside Republican Club at The War Memorial, 32 Lake Shore Rd., Grosse Pointe Farms.
After 18 years of service, Young retired from the Court In April 2017, and is campaigning for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination. Winner of the August 2018 GOP primary will face incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow in the Nov. General Election.
Young and his family were residents of Grosse Pointe Park for many years.

Dr. Annette DeSantis Feldpausch, club chairman, cited Young’s style and his ties to the community in a statement in advance of the meeting.
“We are excited that our former neighbor and recent Michigan Supreme Court Justice is bringing his Senate campaign to Grosse Pointe this month,” she said.

“He is a speaker who always connects with everyone, and delivers his message with wit and charm.”
Feldpausch added, “The Forum is open to the public at no charge, so we invite anyone interested in government to take part in the discussion following Mr. Young’s presentation.”
Young was reelected to the Court three times and was the longest-serving Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.
While Chief Justice, Young reformed the judiciary by reducing costs, adding accountability and imposing performance measures.
Young developed a strategic plan to promote measuring judicial performance, tracking public satisfaction, adopting best practices, and implementing technology to expand public access, increase efficiency, and boost trial court productivity.
These reforms were widely praised and cited as one of the reasons the Detroit News named him Michiganian of the Year in 2016.
Justice Young grew up in Detroit and graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He has been active in and led many civic and community organizations including service as a Trustee for the Detroit Institute for Children and Director of Vista Maria, an organization dedicated to helping vulnerable and neglected youth.
Young has been married for 42 years to his college sweetheart Dr. Linda Hotchkiss. They have two adult sons, and currently live in the Lansing area. Dr. Hotchkiss is a psychiatrist.
