This Week in Grosse Pointe: June 17

Here are a few highlights of the many events schedluled in the Grosse Pointes this week: 
1. The Grosse Pointe Woods city council will meet Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. According to the agenda, the council will discuss: 

  • oath of office for an deputy city assessor
  • an application for a parade permit from Pregnancy Aid Inc.
  • the Grosse Pointe Hometown parade
  • Michigan Municipal League Convention
  • Verizon service agreement
  • the purchase of payroll software
  • an amendment to an ordinance concerning employee pay
  • an amendment to an ordinance prohibiting drive-thrus
2. The City of Grosse Pointe council will meet Monday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, council will discuss: 
  • site plan reviews for SHE Boutique and Ray Dixon, MD Opthalomology
  • an amendment to the 2013/14 fiscal year budget
  • an engineering proposal for the HVAC system
  • Village parking lot 2, an award for a bid and compactor rate schedule
  • a transition district and zoning in the Village
  • creation of HRA and 401A for public service employees
3. The Grosse Pointe Public School Board will meet Monday. They will begin with a closed session at 6 p.m. at Brownell Middle School to discuss the superintendent's evaluation, according to the agenda
At 7 p.m., the board will begin an open session. According to that agenda, the board will discuss: 
  • technology planning update
  • budget planning update
  • a reinstatement panel for student A 
  • minutes from several closed meetings
