Veterans Day Closures, GPNspire and Parade Preview are Planned for This Week

Family events, plays and fundraisers are planned this week in the Pointes.

Here are some events to plan for this week:

  • All county offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. City offices including Grosse Pointe Park and Grosse Pointe Woods will also be closed in observance of Veterans Day. Rubbish collection will not be affected.
  • Grosse Pointe Woods City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday to swear-in the mayor and council, and consider a request for an emergency roof replacement for the Lake Front Park Activities Building.
  • The Friends of the Grosse Pointe Parade will hold a Christmas Preview Event at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pier Park. Tickets are $50 for a family, or $25 for an individual. Funds raised will help support The Friends of the Grosse Pointe Parade which developed and maintains The Grosse Pointe Santa Claus Sleigh, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Caboose, The Grosse Pointe Wellness Express, and the White Christmas Carriage.
  • Grosse Pointe North will host GPNspire, an event where kids animate the ideas that spark their curiosity and invigorate others at 7 p.m. Friday.
  • Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish will host "The Taste," which is an evening of food samplings and wine tastings Saturday. For tickets, and information, visit the parish website.
