Woods Offers Tips and Guidelines for Halloween

City's public safety department issues statement to residents regarding Halloween hours and tips

WOODS— The City of Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Department issued an official Halloween statement to residents Tuesday.
The statement outlined the city’s policy on holiday hours, which run from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, and offered tips to residents.
Public safety officials urge trick-or-treaters to visit houses with porch or outside lights illuminated only, and children under 12-years old should be accompanied by a parent or adult.
The department also offered the following five tips aimed at ensuring a fun and safe Halloween experience for the entire community.
Put electronic devices down, keep heads up, and walk, don’t run, across the street
Cross the street at the corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. Look left, right, and left again before crossing.
Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.
Have children carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
Drivers should be extra alert. Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.
