Kindergarten is one of the biggest challenges for the district in planning for budget purposes because the numbers of children who will enroll are unknown. The budget process is completed before registration is closed, making budget planning somewhat of an estimate based on the number of students registered at that point plus projections.

The district encourages parents to register their students earlier rather than later to ensure per pupil funding and other budgetary matters are handled as accurately as possible given the timeline.

The district has had to make changes at the beginning of the school year due to changes in enrollment that happened in the days leading up to the first day, including adding staff.
