Police Seek Info On Man Allegedly Impersonating Officer

Police want to know if this man has tried to pull anyone over recently.

WHITE LAKE, MI — Police have arrested a man they say may have been impersonating a Michigan State Trooper and are asking for the public’s help to see if he indeed was pulling people over. The 42-year-old man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after MSP’s Second District Special Investigation executed a search warrant at 9115 Maplewood Dr., in White Lake.

During the search, officers found badges, ammunition and other illegal items, according to authorities. Detectives now want to hear from motorists or residents who have encountered the man.

“It is also possible this person may have attempted to gain favors or tried to gain influence by presenting himself has a state trooper,” the announcement from MSP said. “MSP reminds motorists that we use only marked vehicles for traffic enforcement and during any contact members of the State Police will have an official id card with their photo or will be accompanied by unformed members. If a driver has any doubt if they are being stopped by a real police officer they should keep driving, turn on their emergency flashers and contact 911 to verify if that is a real police officer.”
