Police Shoot Man During Highway Chase In Domestic Incident

A Michigan State Trooper shot a man wanted for reportedly shooting his girlfriend in a domestic incident, reports say.

LIVONIA, MI — The westbound lanes of I-96 have reopened at Levan Road following a domestic situation that led to a Michigan State Police trooper-involved shooting.

Police said this started as a domestic situation around 3:30 a.m. when a man reportedly shot his girlfriend at a Fed Ex facility which turned into a police chase on eastbound I-96. The chase then turned around and went westbound on I-96, and then ended near Levan Road with the trooper shooting the suspect.

Bullet holes could be seen in the front passenger side window of the suspect's vehicle, according to the report.

The woman reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to her lower body and was in the car with the man during the chase. Both the woman and the man shot by police are in critical condition at a local hospital.

The interstate reopened around 10 a.m. Monday.
