17-year-old Canton Woman Charged In Assault On Father
Prosecutors said an argument led to the man being thrown from a vehicle the woman was driving, causing serious injuries.
CANTON, MI — A 17-year-old Canton woman has been accused by prosecutors of assaulting her father by driving a vehicle he was on the hood of, throwing him from the vehicle causing injury.
Jenni Shi is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm and reckless driving causing serious injury, prosecutors said. She is expected to be formally arraigned on the charges Wednesday morning in 35th District Court.
A 17-year-old is considered an adult under Michigan criminal law.

"The alleged facts in this case clearly reflect a family in crisis," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "Today’s times are exceedingly difficult. There is no shame in admitting that you help. Please seek that help for yourself and/or your family when you need it."
According to prosecutors, Canton police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Liberty and Stanton in Canton around 4:44 p.m. Monday following reports of a man behind thrown from the hood of a moving vehicle.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, prosecutors said.
An argument between Shi and her father escalated before the man jumped on the hood of Shi's vehicle while she tried to leave, prosecutors said. Shi was driving the vehicle when her father was thrown from it, prosecutors allege.
