Canton Author's Debut Novel Hits Multiple "Best Of 2018" Lists

Horror book written by Metro Detroit native has received high praise from several notable sources.

Canton resident and Metro Detroit native April A. Taylor's debut novel has recently appeared on two major Best of 2018 lists.

The Haunting of Cabin Green: A Modern Gothic Horror Novel was named one of The 13 Most Chilling Horror Books of 2018 by pop culture website PopSugar. News site The Inquisitr also heaped praise on the local writer's work by dubbing it one of the Best Horror Books of 2018.

The 2018 Reader's Choice Awards - hosted by The Kindle Book Review - showcased Taylor's book as the Top Vote-Getter in this year's Horror category. Mega online voting site Ranker has gotten into the mix as well by asking readers to help determine if The Haunting of Cabin Green is one of 2018's Scariest Horror Books.

The 41-year-old author gave an interview to the News Herald earlier this year, in which she said that she grew up in Taylor, attended Truman High School, and now lives in Canton. She described her horror novel as a "metaphor for depression."

Critics have heaped high praise on the gothic fiction book, with The Horror Report calling it "gripping and chilling... a spectacular read" and The Inquisitr saying it "takes [the] standard genre template and turns it upside-down...unique...with a literary approach."
