Canton Citizens Police Academy Will Be Offered This Spring
Canton Police's Citizens Police Academy is a free eight week course that includes cross-training with the Canton Fire Department.

CANTON, MI — Want to know what it's actually like being a police officer? You can learn first-hand the ins and outs of law enforcement at the Canton Police Department's Citizens Police Academy, according to a press release. The free academy will be a crash course on the policies and operational procedures of the department and feature presentations, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
“Academy participants will gain insight into the difficult challenges law enforcement personnel face on a daily basis through interesting and informative instruction,” Canton Public Safety Director Joshua Meier said in a statement. He continued, “Because the Citizens Police Academy has been so well received, we’ve decided test pilot a mini-Citizens Fire Academy this year. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy two additional weeks consisting of cross-over academy sessions with the Fire Department."
The Citizens Police Academy will be held on Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., for eight weeks from April 6 – May 25.
