Canton COVID-19 Vaccination Site Reaches 1,000 Appointments
Residents interested in registering for a COVID-19 vaccination are being asked to register online.
CANTON, MI — The call center for the COVID-19 vaccination site in Canton is no longer taking calls after registering 1,000 people for vaccinations and adding more than 2,000 people to its growing waiting list, Canton Township officials said Tuesday.
Instead, officials are recommending people interested in registering for vaccination register to be added to the township's COVID-19 vaccine waitlist online.

Wayne County announced last week that it was opening several local COVID-19 vaccination clinics focusing on older adults living in eight communities. The first of the sites opened Tuesday.

The clinics were free but required registration ahead of time. In addition to one site in Canton servicing the Plymouth-Canton community, other sites are located in Highland Park, Hamtramck, Inkster, Melvindale, Romulus and Wayne.

Officials in Canton Township said the clinic location in Canton, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Summit on the Park, received nearly 1 million calls from people interested in registering for appointments Monday. That overload prompted them to create a waitlist.
