Canton Declares Snow Emergency; Plymouth Issues Parking Warning
Plymouth, meantime, is asking that people not park on the city streets.

CANTON, MI – Ahead of what's expected to be a severe winter storm, a snow emergency has been declared for the charter township of Canton, beginning at 6 a.m. Friday and continuing through 9 p.m. Saturday. The emergency means that on-street parking throughout Canton is prohibited to allow plowing and salting of streets and roads.
The city of Plymouth also issued a snow emergency that went into effect at 6 a.m. Like Canton, that means on-street parking is prohibited. In Canton and Plymouth. The National Weather Service has warned that as much as 9 inches of snow is expected by Friday evening.
Residents were also reminded that local ordinances require residents to clear sidewalks of snow and ice within 72 hours of the snowfall. Snow and ice also must be cleared from around fire hydrants, Canton officials said.
