Canton Driver Has Gun Drawn Towards Him In A Road Rage Situation

A Road Rage Incident Escalated When A Canton Driver Had A Handgun Brandished At Him For Honking His Horn At The Driver In Front Of Him

CANTON, MI- A Canton driver who had honked his horn in order to urge another driver to pull off from a green light found himself in a dangerous situation, when a handgun was pointed at him.

No shots were fired during this road rage incident which had taken place on Tuesday, Dec. 12. at around 8 p.m. according to Detective Lt. Mike Steckle.

The 32-year-old Canton resident had informed the police that he had honked his horn, when the driver in front of him had failed to accelerate when the traffic light had switched from red to green on Warren Road, near Tonda Elementary School.

The driver said to police the situation had escalated, when they had stopped at the following traffic light at Warren and Canton Center, where he was threatened by a handgun brandished by the driver of a gold Ford Taurus.

The driver was able to avoid any further confrontation by putting his car in reverse, and driving away from the scene. Police say an incident like this should serve as a reminder of proper etiquette on the road. Steckle said an aggressive honk is more likely to anger a driver; potentially escalating to a road rage incident that could possibly involve weapons.
