Canton Library Hosts Yankee Air Museum Author

Aviation lovers and local historians will absolutely love this event.

CANTON, MI—Aviation lovers and local historians unite: author Barry Levine is coming to the Canton Public Library to discuss his new book, Yankee Air Museum, on March 19, 7:00-8:00 PM.

“This book’s goals are to acknowledge the tireless dedication of the volunteers who have preserved this history; highlight specific exhibits, events, and speakers; and discuss the museum’s founding and future plans,” he says in the book.

The audience will hear highlights of his book as Levine goes behind the scenes and digs into the history of this local treasure. Do you know who created the museum’s logo? Or that some founding members had to take out second mortgages on their homes to finance the spot? Do you remember the 2004 fire?

Levine will also talk about what is to come, as the museum moves to the Willow Run bomber plant remnant early next year and becomes the National Museum of Aviation and Technology at Historic Willow Run.

“Many of our patrons have pastimes visiting the museum or watching Thunder Over Michigan every year. We want to enrich those experiences with extra information and help the community learn even more about something they already love,” says Laura Fawcett, program librarian.
