Plymouth-Canton Schools Send Students Home After Possible Threat

Extra police were to be at the schools to help oversee the dismissal.

CANTON, MI – Students were to be released at 11 a.m. Thursday after an investigation into a possible threat, reported police. Officials said there was no immediate threat, and all students and staff members are safe.

Earlier Thursday, Plymouth, Canton and Salem High Schools were on a soft lockdown while a possible threat was investigated. The early dismissal, which only affects high school students, is timed with the lunch periods, according to the statement from the Canton Public Safety Department.

Middle and elementary students were not affected by the lockdown, police said. Extra officers have been called to the schools for the dismissal, police said.
