Detroit Weather Forecast: Potential Tornadoes For Friday Evening's Commute

Detroit weather forecasters say Friday evening's commute will be slowed by rain and potential high winds that could lead to tornadoes

METRO DETROIT, MI - Metropolitan Detroit could see some severe weather as drivers commute home Friday evening. While the National Weather Service is forecasting a high of about 66 degrees, rain is expected to develop between 5 - 6 p.m. Along with it will come will come wind gusts of up to 22 mph, likely lightning and the possibility of tornadoes.

WDIV-TV Local 4 describes Friday’s winds as potentially having “tremendous low-level” power to produce tornadoes. The station rates the tornado potential from the storm at a medium level.

Showers are likely to end Friday night and the low is projected at 39 degrees. Temperatures will not rise much during the day Saturday with an expected high of 42. Snow showers are also expected, but unlikely to bring accumulations.
