First Day Goes Without A Hitch For Students, New Bentley Principal

Tuesday was principal Laura Carino's first day with Bentley students after coming to the district from Livonia.

CANTON, MI — The first day of school isn’t just a nerve-racking experience for students. Take new Bentley Elementary School Principal Laura Carino. She was just as anxious for Tuesday to go well as her new students, according to a Canton Observer report.

Carino, who replaces the retired Jerry Meier, said the first day of school holds a certain magic.
"As long as I've been in education, I get the first-day jitters every year," said Carino, who was the principal at Livonia's Buchanan Elementary last year. "The anticipation and excitement of seeing the kids, seeing the families. We're starting fresh, everything's brand new and it's just the excitement of the new year. It's a magical day."
