Gas Leak In Downtown Plymouth Causes Businesses To Evacuate

Crews and Plymouth police are on the scene in the area of Harvey and Fleet streets.

Updated. PLYMOUTH, MI — A gas leak in downtown Plymouth has sparked businesses to evacuate. The gas leak affected the area around Harvey and Fleet streets. Consumers Energy crews have stopped the gas leak and are now repairing the issue and the Plymouth police are on the scene.

According to Click On Detroit, the gas leak was triggered when a contractor hit a recently installed 2-inch plastic main.

Harvey St. is currently closed between Penniman and Ann Arbor Trail. Penniman was closed between Harvey and Main streets but Plymouth police report it reopened around 5:30 p.m.
