Kellogg Park Will Get A New Fountain

Construction of the fountain in downtown Plymouth will start sometime next year.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Construction of a new fountain for Plymouth’s Kellogg Park will begin sometime in 2018. The Plymouth Historic District Commission on Wednesday approved the project, which calls for a nearly 14-feet tall fountain that will feature bronze and granite, according to a Detroit Free Press report.

The Plymouth Downtown Development Authority will competitively bid the project and expects to select a contractor in early 2018. An exact timetable for construction isn’t yet clear, the DDA said in a Facebook post. Mechanical and maintenance issues with the current fountain made the project necessary, the DDA said.

"I think overall it has captured the character of the park," Plymouth Historic District Commissioner Glenn Kremer said.
"I like the evolution that the design has taken from more modern back to traditional," resident Laura Mesner said.
