Local Toastmaster Club Celebrates 60th Anniversary

The free event on Nov. 17 will feature a variety of presentations, along with prizes, refreshments and networking.

The public is invited to attend the 60th anniversary party hosted by members of the Motor City Speak Easy Toastmaster Club on November 17.

Where: The event will be held at St. Kenneth Church Conference Center, 14805 Haggerty Road, in Plymouth.

When: Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m.

The free event will feature a brief history of the club, “Flashback,” presented by Allen Moore, a 31-year member, and a keynote address “Toastmasters Drives Me” by Liz Cezat, a seven-year member. There will be prizes, refreshments and networking. Guests can take part in a public-speaking exercise known as table topics.

The club’s parent organization, Toastmasters International, is celebrating its 90th year as a nonprofit that helps members improve their public speaking skills and develop leadership abilities.

Throughout the year, Motor City Speak Easy meets on the second and fourth Monday of the month and provides members with opportunities to present speeches and speak off-the-cuff in table topics. Evaluations are part of the process for continuous improvement. Memberships are available.
