CANTON, MI—Blast off! Canton Public Library is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing on Saturday, July 20, 2:00 PM.

All are welcome to stop by for activities, light snacks (while supplies last) and video footage of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s first steps on the moon. World of Rocks in Ypsilanti will have a display of space rocks.

“The Apollo 11 Lunar Module’s landing was a huge milestone for NASA, science and humanity,” says Program Librarian Nichole Welz. “It was an event that influenced the whole world and brought people together; that’s something to celebrate!”

The event is one of many programs and activities lined up for CPL’s space-themed 62 Days of Summer. In a bulletin board vote last month, Buzz Aldrin beat Buzz Lightyear in a popular vote. At the Launch Party, patrons took photos in a giant cardboard spaceship. There are galactic puzzles and a cosmic scavenger hunt in the library. Visit www.cantonpl.org/calendar for a full list of programs.

The Canton Public Library is located at 1200 S. Canton Center Road in Canton. Call (734) 397-0999 for library information.
