Pioneer Parents,

Congratulations!

Find out what's happening in Plymouth-Cantonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

We have made it through the 2020-21 school year.

This has undoubtedly been the most interesting school year in history. We started the year virtually, then moved to hybrid, then to in-person, then back to virtual, and finally back to in-person instruction. We truly appreciate all your support and patience as we navigated this crazy time. In this update, please make sure to review the Summer Reading and Math Resources, along with the dates of Schedule Pickup/Picture Days at Pioneer.

New Staff Members:

You are going to see many new faces at Pioneer next year. This week we were able to hire three new staff members to replace some of our retirees and open positions. Here is some information on our new staff members:

Angela Allen: Angela will be taking over for Mrs. Jenkins as our Life Management Teacher. Angela previously taught in Indiana and Florida, and recently moved to Plymouth. She is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.

Megan Atwood: Megan will be our new Special Education teacher serving the students in our Emotionally Impaired classroom. Megan formerly worked at West Middle School and Madonna University. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University.

Alexa Lalejini: Alexa will be taking over for Mrs. Marchesano as our Media Specialist. Alexa was previously the Media Specialist of Saginaw Swan Valley High School and serves as a board member on multiple professional organizations for the State of Michigan on media education. She is a graduate of the Ohio State University & Syracuse University.

SUMMER READING

Help your student avoid the "summer slide" by setting aside some time for math and reading.

Make time each day in your routine for reading. To improve reading skills, students need time to practice reading -- preferably something that interests them. It's easy with the availability of downloadable ebooks & audiobooks, free from our school library. Go to our Canvas Library page for Summer Reading suggestions and access to our digital books. Choose Find a Book to access digital books (Login with Google). These books work with the Sora app on tablets, computers and smart phones. Choose Summer Reading for additional reading suggestions and our great local public library programs. All these resources are free!   Our local public libraries also offer great reading programs.
