Son Attacks Mother, Has Stand-Off In Plymouth Apartment: Worthy
Prosecutors said the man attacked his mother with a knife before a long standoff with police.
PLYMOUTH, MI — A Plymouth man faces several felony charges after prosecutors said he attacked his 69-year-old mother and got into a standoff with police Saturday.
Todd Willard Holgate, 41, is charged with false report of a threat of terrorism, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm – strangulation, felonious assault and resisting and obstructing the police, Wayne County prosecutors said.
According to prosecutors, Holgate's mother was outside her apartment in the 390 block of Pinewood Circle speaking with Holgate when he threatened her. When the victim went inside the apartment and locked the door, Holgate became irate and broke a window to enter the home, prosecutors said.

Once inside the apartment and while armed with a knife, prosecutors said Holgate chased the woman into her bedroom. Prosecutors said Holgate strangled his mother and stabbed the bed near her head.
After the attack, prosecutors said Holgate fled to another part of the apartment. The victim called police, leading to a 2-hour standoff between Holgate and authorities, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors added that the standoff ended with Holgate being arrested and placed in a local hospital for evaluation.
