St. Clair Shores Woman Urges Vigilance About Rats
The woman called St. Clair Shores for help after her puppy died from leptospirosis, a disease sometimes spread by rats.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — A St. Clair Shores resident is urging the city and animal owners to be vigilant about rats after her German shepherd puppy died of leptospirosis, according to a C and G Newspapers report.
"That night (the puppy died), Kwietniewski said, she called the city to ask for help. The inspector did not find any violations in her yard, but offered to put out two more bait boxes to try to control the rat population."
“I’m happy that the city is helping me, as far as coming out,” she said. “The city’s been cooperative. “I want to bring attention to this because I don’t want anyone else’s dog to get lepto and die.”
