Vietnam Veteran Fundraiser A Success, Thanks To A Generous Community And Main Street Auto Wash

Thanks to the generosity of our community, and the longtime dedication of the Purcell family, our veterans had a great fundraiser.

The Plymouth-Canton Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 528 would like to give a warm thanks to all of our generous community members who came out on Sunday to support our veterans, by getting their car, or in some cases cars washed, to support our veterans. This year was a great year, and thanks to the generosity of our community, our veterans took in over $2,400. Every single time our veterans have a fundraiser, they can always count on a wonderful turnout from our local community, and make no mistake, they appreciate it.

Don “Digger” Dignan also wanted to give a huge thanks to everybody who volunteered for this effort, and
believe me, the veterans know how to do a car wash. Not only do they show up ready to wash, but they show up with a BBQ, and plenty of good food to eat.

Mostly though, our veterans want to thank Phil & Paula Purcell, the owners of Main Street Auto Wash. Every single year, for well over 20 years, they have graciously opened there car wash up to the veterans for a day, offering them every single nickle of the sales, no strings attached. Not only do they hand over all of the receipts, but they are both there working from beginning to end. Throughout the day, both Phil and Paula also spend time greeting our veterans, and catching up on family news with friends they have made over the years. They also make the newcomers feel welcome. They make it feel like a backyard BBQ, with some car washing mixed in just for fun. Definitely a family atmosphere.
