Welcome Home Dinner For Iraq & Afghanistan Vets At VFW Post
The Plymouth VFW Post will be hosting a Welcome Home Dinner, free to all Iraq & Afghanistan veterans. This event is also open to the public.

Our veterans at the Plymouth VFW Post 6695 are having a Welcome Home Dinner for Iraq & Afghanistan
veterans on Sunday, January 7th , from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. This promises to be a very nice event, and last year, our Iraq & Afghanistan veterans really enjoyed the evening.
This event is being spearheaded by Amy O'Neill, who is a veteran of the war in Iraq, and served in 2003.
She has worked her tail off to make this event a reality for her fellow brothers and sisters who have served our nation, and deserves a lot of recognition for her effort.
This dinner is free to any veteran who served in Iraq or Afghanistan, and they can bring one guest with them
for a free dinner as well. While the dinner for the Iraq & Afghanistan veterans is free, Amy is hoping for a great community turnout as well. She is hoping that our community will show up in force to honor our veterans, and enjoy a nice roast beef dinner with them at a very reasonable price.

Here are the particulars: Dinner will consist of Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, salad, and a
roll. There will be a cash bar for those who desire something stronger to drink. If you are an Iraq or Afghanistan veteran, you and your guest will eat for free, for all others, the cost is $10 at
the door. This is definitely a good price for a nice dinner with our veterans, and more importantly, it would be a great thing to have our community show up to honor those who have given so much for our nation.
As added bonuses, our favorite DJ, Koz will be at this event playing his awesome music, there will also be a
50/50 raffle for those feeling lucky, and they will have “tin can basket” raffles with lots of cool goodies in the baskets!

There is one other aspect to this dinner from Amy's point of view, and that is that she wants to expose
more of our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans to the benefits that the VFW Posts have to offer. They are not just places where you can go have beer or two, and watch a game. A VFW Post is a place where veterans can come and be among friends, even if you've never met them before.
If you have problems with the VA, or anything like that, you can get advice, or be directed to experts who
can help you. Amy wants our next generation of veterans to know that there is always an open door for her fellow veterans to be among folks who have been there, done that, and have experienced many of the same issues that our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are going through.
More importantly, she would tell our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans that becoming involved with our VFW
Post is pretty darn fun as well. Yes, you can find help there, but you'll also find a lot of fun, particularly with our Vietnam veterans! These are folks that love to eat good food, know how to make it, and definitely love to have a good time.
So if you are an Iraq or Afghanistan veteran, do yourself a favor, and come on out to the Plymouth VFW
Post, and meet some of the great people that are there. You'll get a great meal, an awesome dessert, and great company!
