Women In The Military The Focus Of Annual Veteran Display
While the focus of the 2020 display will be Women in the Military, it is important to note that photos of all military personnel are welcome

The Plymouth District Library is proud to announce that the annual “Honoring our Veterans” display will again be up during the month of November. This fall tradition includes a large photo display of veterans and active military personnel provided by local family members and friends.
Photos can be submitted by emailing them to print@plymouthlibrary.org The library staff can also scan original photos upon request. No personal information will be displayed with the photographs.
While photos of all military personnel will be included, the focus of the 2020 display will be Women in the Military. A military uniform from the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAC), memorabilia, and documentation from Detroit-area women who served, will be featured.
Some of these are from the collection of local veteran, John Pappas. Previous military displays at the library were provided by Mr. Pappas and highlighted the Civil War.

The library display will also feature a “white table” in November. Traditionally, the table is set with a white tablecloth, a black napkin and white candle, and a plate with a slice of lemon and salt. An empty chair leans against the table. This tradition, little known to the general public, is in remembrance of prisoners of war and those missing in action. The display is modeled after the table in the children's book America's White Table, written by Margot Theis Raven and illustrated by Mike Benny. It is available for check-out at the library.
