ROCHESTER, MI — Now in its tenth year, Small Business Saturday serves as the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season for small businesses across the United States. Downtown Rochester is one of the shopping destinations in Metro Detroit (find all the downtown businesses here).
Here are three reasons to consider it on Nov. 30, this year's Small Business Saturday.

This year, Downtown Rochester is proudly participating in Oakland County’s Small Business Saturday initiative. Holiday shoppers who enter a picture of their receipt from a purchase made November 30th at a small business in Oakland County are eligible to win $5,000, just take a picture of your receipt and text ShopTextWin to 41411. 2. Carriage rides

The Rochester Downtown Development Authority will offer free carriage rides from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 30. The carriage rides will pick-up at the corner of East Fourth and Main Street. Rides will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
3. Dazzling lights
The Big, Bright Light Show will be aglow beginning at 7 p.m. Nov. 25. It runs until midnight. Here's your guide to the event.
