METRO DETROIT, MI — The holiday season is here and there's nothing that says Christmastime magic like the twinkle and glow of a glorious holiday display.

Here at Patch we have rounded up some of our tried-and-true favorite displays that families can find around Metro Detroit.

1. Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village - this Dearborn display lets you hear sleigh bells and listen to carolers as you step back in time in American history.

2. Wild Lights - The Detroit Zoo puts on one of the most family-friendly displays that you can't miss. There's more than 5 million LED lights and 280 animal sculptures. Check it out here.

3. Wayne County Lightfest - This place makes Westland a holiday destination as it represents the entire county celebrating the season. With five miles of displays in Hines Park, it's known as the largest holiday light show in the Midwest.

4. Fantasyland - Lincoln Park does this event big every year, transforming the space into a magical holiday wonderland for low-cost pictures with Santa and merriment. The money stays in the community and helps local non-profits.

5. Campus Martius - Downtown Detroit can't be left off of our list. The six-story Christmas tree is the centerpiece and families can glide across the ice rink all around it. Don't miss the winter market for local gifts.

6. The Big, Bright Light Show - This Rochester tradition had to make our list. The city decks their halls and buildings with more than a million glistening lights along Main Street and the holiday shopping is next to none. Here's an inside look at the event.
