Rochester Hills Declares Snow Emergency; What You Need To Know

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI –Due to the forecasted winter storm, Mayor Bryan K. Barnett has issued a snow emergency for the City of Rochester Hills effective at 5 p.m. Monday. until further notice. Due to the snow emergency, there will be no parking on city streets.
All residents are asked to remove their vehicles from all city streets to allow the plows to clear the snow safely and efficiently. Vehicles parked in the roadway could be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
During winter months, the Department of Public Services is responsible for snow and ice control on 242 miles of Local Roads and 38 miles of City Major Roads. Anyone who does not have to travel is asked to stay off of the roadways during the storm and subsequent snow removal operations. The public’s cooperation as we deal with this winter storm is greatly appreciated.

During this time, please assist your fellow neighbors and check in on the elderly and disabled. Thank you for being patient as crews continue to work in tough conditions to clear roads. If you have to drive, please allow for extra time and travel safely.
New this year, residents can stay updated on the status of plowing operations by visiting http://rochesterhills.plowtracker.com/. The city’s state of the art Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) system uses technology to show viewers the real-time locations and status of snow plows. Now anyone with a computer, tablet or smartphone can access an online map to track the work of snowplows throughout the city from the comfort of their own home.

“We take pride in being an innovative leader in our snow removal operations,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “This new technology is another way we have enhanced our service delivery and communication to our residents.”
The city of Rochester has also declared a snow emergency.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect in the region until midnight Tuesday, the National Weather Service announced. A harsh cold front sweeping the area this week will bring the coldest temperatures since 1994. Read more about the forecast here.
