Rochester Prepares For Big, Bright Light Show

ROCHESTER, MI — It's nearly that time of year again for the magic of Rochester's Big, Bright Light Show.

The buildings in Downtown Rochester will be covered in more than 1.5 million points of glimmering holiday light which will be lit nightly, Nov. 25 through Jan. 5, 2020. Locals can see the show from 5 p.m. until midnight.

“The Big, Bright Light Show is holiday magic personified; it is something you have to see to believe,” stated Kristi Trevarrow, Executive Director of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority. “This holiday tradition is one of a kind, and the perfect complement to the one-of-a-kind shopping experience one will find in Downtown Rochester.”

The Big, Bright Light Show will debut on Monday, November 25 at 7 p.m. during the 47th Annual Lagniappe celebration.

The event aims to be a holiday display unlike any in the Midwest and it's entering its 14th season. The buildings of Main Street will be covered in “big, bright” lights beginning at the South Bridge and extending to University Drive. Buildings on Fourth Street from Walnut to Water Street will also be covered.

New this year is Santa’s Phone Booth. Located at the northwest corner of Third & Main, visitors can pop in and hear a message from the big guy himself (and take a selfie while you’re there).
