METRO DETROIT, MI — With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, couples across the nation are eyeing their bank accounts to determine how much they can spend on the loving holiday.

Dining out and flowers are typically two of the biggest purchases on Feb. 14, and Patch has put together a list of eateries and shops in Metro Detroit that can save you a pretty penny.

Many national chain restaurants in Metro Detroit are offering, or plan to offer, limited-time deals for Valentine’s Day. A few of the specials might — or might not — take your breath away, with heart-shaped chicken nuggets, love notes on doughnuts, the option of getting married at a Denny's and, get this, tablecloths at Waffle House.

Additionally, a number of online flower vendors offer discounts on bouquets for the romantic holiday.

1800Flowers: The “Special of the Day” saves you up to 40 percent off a variety of rose combinations. The flower retailer also offers a wide variety of bouquet options at discounted prices.

Restaurants
Baskin-Robbins: The chain of ice cream restaurants is rolling out its annual lineup of Valentine’s Day-themed sweets. There is also a variety of pun-filled cakes you can order.

California Pizza Kitchen: Pizza might not be the first food that comes to mind on the romantic holiday, but you and your significant other can dine at California Pizza Kitchen for a total of $35. The deal includes one appetizer, two entrées and a dessert.

Chick-fil-A: Purchase a heart-shaped container of chicken nuggets, Chick-n-Minis or chocolate chunk cookies until Feb. 29.

Chili’s: Get a $25 meal for two on Valentine’s Day. The deal includes an appetizer, two entrées and a dessert. If you want to add a little fun, you can also get a margarita for $5.

Denny’s: Denny’s isn’t offering a national deal but the breakfast chain is offering quite the opportunity, if you’re willing to travel on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant chain is offering a wedding special at its Las Vegas location — you can actually get married at the restaurant for $99.

Krispy Kreme: Nothing says I love you like heart-shaped doughnuts decorated with phrases such as “Dreamy” and “Love.”

Waffle House: It’s a restaurant chain not exactly known for its fine dining, but it all changes at your local Waffle House for Valentine’s Day. Locations across the nation will set up tablecloths, dim the lights and light candles. Waffle House will also offer a variety of Valentine’s Day-exclusive items.
