Break The Silence Week Fights LGBT Bullying
Join Royal Oak High School students for a movie night, dinner at Pronto! or a rally this week to help bring awareness to LGBT bullying.

ROYAL OAK, MI — The Royal Oak High School Diversity Club is hosting a series of community events to coincide with the Day of Silence on April 27 and raise awareness about bullying of LGBTQ students in schools. The events also gather the community together to remember those who have fallen victim to LGBT bullying.
The goal of the Diversity Club is to educate our community and promote positive change. Locals are invited to participate in the Break the Silence Week events, including a movie night and rally. All proceeds from the week will go to PFLAG, an organization committed to advancing equality through its mission of support, education, and advocacy for LGBTQ people.

“Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it's a little more complicated. He hasn't told his family or friends that he's gay, and he doesn't know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he's fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.”
April 25: Restaurant Night at Pronto!, 608 S Washington Ave, Royal Oak. Order out or dine in; just tell them it’s for ROHS Diversity Club’s fundraiser and 20% of all purchases from 5-9 p.m. will go to PFLAG. Free chips and salsa with purchase.
April 27: Day of Silence: Night of Noise - an evening of education and entertainment 5-7 p.m. in the Royal Oak High School auditorium. Featured speaker Amy S. Weber, director and producer of ‘A Girl Like Her’ will be presenting. There will be slam poets, one act, music and more! This is open to the general public.
