Eastbound I-696 In Oakland County Closed This Weekend

It's the first eastbound lane closure in the massive project underway until November.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — This weekend crews are gearing up for the first eastbound closure on I-696 as part of the Restore the Reuther project throughout Oakland and Macomb counties. The freeway lanes will close from US-24 to I-75 starting at 8 p.m. Friday and will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday.

This is the first eastbound closure in the project that is scheduled to take until November to complete.
Ramp and lane closures will start at M-10 to reduce traffic heading eastbound, officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation said. This area of freeway has had weeknight lane closures for saw cutting in preparation for the weekend closure for removing and replacing some concrete sections and other repairs.

For a detour, motorists should head southbound M-10 to eastbound Davison Freeway to northbound I-75 to eastbound I-696.
