GreenSpace & Go Opens in Royal Oak Featuring Plant-Based Foods

ROYAL OAK, MI — A new restaurant has hit Royal Oak, offering healthy dishes. GreenSpace & Go, the fast-casual offshoot of Ferndale's popular plant-based restaurant and bar, GreenSpace Café. The quick-serve, all-plant eatery opens Monday at 32867 Woodward Avenue, just south of 14 Mile Rd.

Featuring fresh, healthy, portable cuisine, the menu showcases veggies, fruits, grains and beans in creative bowls, wraps, salads, soups, smoothies, baked goods and more. Designed to serve customers on the go, the space also features a community table, a dozen window seats and plenty of parking in front and back.

"It's healthy in a hurry," said cardiologist Joel Kahn M.D. in an announcement. He who co-owns GreenSpace & Go and GreenSpace Café with his wife, Karen and son, Daniel. "Inspired by NYC street food and bowls, this venture into fast casual furthers our mission of bringing nutritious, delicious and planet-friendly food to wider audiences."

Like the flagship GreenSpace Café, the new GreenSpace & Go uses ingredients that are sourced as wholly, sustainably and organically as possible and contain no GMOs or preservatives. Allergy-friendly gluten-, soy- and nut-free options are available, as are oil-free and children's items.

Both GreenSpace Café and GreenSpace & Go are the first in the Midwest to earn certificates from the national PlantPure Communities Restaurant Campaign, which recognizes establishments that offer restaurant goers healthy, plant-based, oil-free meals. According to the nonprofit's website, plantpurecommunities.org, 6 percent of the U.S. population now identifies as vegan, and 30 percent are leaving meat off their plates and seeking out plant-based alternatives.

GreenSpace & Go is open for lunch and dinner Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; closed Sunday. Beginning April 9, orders can be placed online at greenspaceandgo.com or by calling 248-850-8500.
