Royal Oak Schools Closed Thursday Due To Dangerous Cold

ROYAL OAK, MI — All schools in the Royal Oak School District will be closed Thursday due to the predicted low temperatures, school officials announced Wednesday.

After-school events, including the district Cultural Competency Engagement Committee meeting, and all Adult Education courses at Churchill are also cancelled. Young Oaks (latchkey) will be hosted at Addams Elementary School, 2222 W. Webster, for those registered in the Snow Day Program.

Wind chills are registering around the region at 40 degrees below zero Wednesday and Thursday. Most school districts, universities, government facilities and mail delivery have all been shut down. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also declared a state of emergency in Michigan.
