5 Places Open on Christmas Day in Shelby-Utica

If you end up forgetting a key ingredient for Christmas dinner (we hear butter is a hot item on Christmas day) or are looking to get out of the house, here are five places that are open on Christmas Day.

1. 7-Eleven

The convenience store becomes the hot spot for convenience Christmas Day. On the way to Grandma's house, you can also pick up some last-minute items, from Advil to Gatorade. The 7-Eleven at 5020 23 Mile Rd. is open from 7 a.m. to 12 midnight on Christmas Day.

2. Walgreens

The Walgreens at 13664 23 Mile Rd. will be open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; the pharmacy is closed. The store's number one seller on Christmas? Butter.

3. Buca di Beppo

In case something goes wrong with your Christmas ham, Buca di Beppo is an option available to you. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Christmas Day.

4. CVS

Most CVS stores are open Christmas Day, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to fill a prescription. CVS is the spot to pick up a holiday card, pet food or other must-have item when just about everything else is closed.

5. Movie theatres

OK, we know we don't technically have one in Shelby or Utica, but many people make a trip to the movie theatre on Christmas Day, so it made our list anyway. Check out Emagine Rochester Hills, MJR Cinema 14, and AMC Forum 30 for Christmas Day movie showtimes.

What's closed on Christmas

Most Shelby-Utica businesses are closed on Christmas Day, as are government offices, banks, malls and the post office. Refuse collection will be delayed one day due to the holiday.

Most retailers will reopen Thursday and are expecting one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
