Well-Known Gas Station Chain Opening Three More Metro Detroit Locations
The chain is planning to open 50-60 locations across southeast Michigan over the next five to six years.

METRO DETROIT — Sheetz on Thursday announced plans for three more metro Detroit locations.
The popular mid-Atlantic gas station chain was recently approved to open stores in:
- Orion Township (4160 South Lapeer Road in Lake Orion Township)

- Shelby Township (48825 Van Dyke Ave.)

"Sheetz is proud to deepen our investment in Southeast Michigan with these new store locations, and we remain committed to being a great neighbor in every community we serve," Sheetz President and CEO Travis Sheetz said. "The overwhelming support we’ve received from communities, local leaders, and residents reinforces what makes the Detroit region so special."
The announcement comes just after Sheetz broke ground on new stores in Chesterfield Township and Romulus. It also comes after a beloved Warren bar and grill closed down last month to make way for the gas station.

Sheetz opened its first Michigan store roughly 4 miles from Metro Detroit airport last summer. The chain is best known for its award-winning Made-to-Order menu, which allows residents, or "Sheetz Freakz" to order any of Sheetz’s customized drinks or food items around the clock.
While many metro Detroit communities have welcomed Sheetz, some have rejected site plans after residents voiced concerns about traffic, noise and light pollution.
Farmington Hills, Livonia and Rochester Hills are among some communities that have rejected a site location.
In a recent op-ed in The Detroit News, Romulus Mayor Robert McCraight said Sheetz has been a great addition to the city.
"There have been unsubstantiated claims of crime, pollution and blight associated with the chain, spread by their competition. But we have witnessed the exact opposite on their site in Romulus," McCraight said. Their site is always clean, and their staff has always been great with customer service. And their management team has always been very responsive and continues to build their relationship with the city, even after they received their certificate of occupancy. That hasn’t always been the case with other stakeholders."
