Eagles Soar Into Regionals

Eisenhower soccer squad gets by Utica High for district crown, faces Ford II in the regional opener tonight

The boys varsity soccer team from Utica Eisenhower hopes to keep its state title dreams alive at 7 p.m. tonight against rival Utica Ford in the opening round of regional play at Fraser High School.

The Eagles head into the regional semifinals on the heels of a 4-0 victory over host Utica High School in the district final last week.

The district title was hard-earned for Ike, with wins over Anchor Bay (1-0) and Dakota (3-0) in the opening two contests of the district.

Before falling to the Eagles in the district final, the Chieftains ousted Port Huron (8-0) and L’Anse Creuse North (2-0) earlier in the tournament.

Should Ike get by Ford in the regional opener, the squad will square off with the winner of the Rochester Adams/Bloomfield Hills game in the regional final at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
