Shelby Township Police Chief Suspended For Tweets
Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide was suspended for 30 days and will also be required to undergo cultural awareness training.
SHELBY TWP., MI — Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide has been suspended for 30 days after making inflammatory comments about protesters he posted to Twitter, according to reports.
Shelide will also be required to undergo cultural awareness and de-escalation training, The Detroit News reported.
Shelide was placed on leave earlier this month after he tweeted, in reference to President Donald Trump discussing potentially deploying members of the military to break up street violence across the nation: "I have a better idea: unleash the real cops and let them take care of these barbarians. I promise it will be over in 24 hours."
