Shelby-Utica at Risk for Severe Weather

Severe thunderstorms, wind guests, golf ball-sized hail and tornadoes possible through early Tuesday morning.

Southeast Michigan is at risk for significant storms Monday afternoon through late evening, the National Weather Service said.

The first wave of potential severe thunderstorms will occur as a warm front lifts through the area.. The second wave will occur as a cold front sweeps through late in the evening.

The primary hazard from 3-7 p.m. will be wind of up to 60 mph followed by hail of up to 1-inch in diameter. Golf ball-sized hail is also possible.

The Weather Service said threats Monday night could include significant wind gusts up to 70 mph with golf-sized hail and isolated tornadoes, mainly north of the M59 corridor between 9 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. Tuesday, and 11 p.m. Monday and 4 a.m. Tuesday to the south.
