Sherwood Brewing Co.: Macomb County's Best Mac & Cheese: Contest

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Sherwood Brewing Company in Shelby Township has the best macaroni and cheese in Macomb County, according to the results of a bracket-style voting contest put on by the county's planning and economic development offices.

Macomb County residents voted in the first-ever Mac Madness: Best Mac in the Mac contest over the course of a week. Sixteen restaurants competed in the competition, with Sherwood Brewing Company coming out on top and winning one week of free digital billboard advertising, a plaque and a $2,500 grant.

“In addition to from scratch food and beverages, Sherwood Brewing Company prides itself on community interaction and support,” said Lisa Sherwood, who runs the business along with Ray Sherwood. “This contest is a perfect example of how hard our regulars rally for our product, our employees and their home away from home. Macomb County government has provided a variety of support this past year to local businesses and we couldn’t be more appreciative.”

The mac and cheese at Sherwood Brewing Company, 45689 Hayes Rd in Shelby Township, features cavatappi noodles tossed in a four cheese blend and baked.

“We are so excited to announce Sherwood Brewing Company as the winner of our first-ever macaroni and cheese competition,” Macomb County Planning and Economic Development Director Vicky Rowinski said. “Our goal from the outset of this initiative was to highlight and support our great Macomb County restaurants. So we hope that people who either voted or simply saw the contest were inspired to get out and try some of the best mac and cheese dishes in Macomb County.”

Runners up in the contest include Simple Palate, 27380 Van Dyke Ave. in Warren, Jayell Smoke House, 1/2 221 N. Bailey St. in Romeo, and Bistro Orleans, 11528 E. 15 Mile Rd. in Sterling Heights.
