Utica Community Schools Closed Friday Due to Inclement Weather
Wind chills are expected to be between -15 and -25 degrees Friday.

Utica Community Schools will be closed Friday due to inclement weather, including freezing temperatures.
Southeast Michigan is under a wind chill advisory through Friday afternoon, with real-feel temperatures plunging to -15 to -25 degrees, the National Weather Service in Detroit says. As of Thursday night, clickondetroit.com announced over 250 school closings in the Metro Detroit area.
When queried on Shelby-Utica Patch's Facebook Page Thursday afternoon, some readers appeared to be in favor of canceling school:
- "If -20 is in store for us, then UCS should close!"
- "-20 + Wind Chill is DANGEROUS Period ! Many kids walk and therefore (Utica Community Schools Superintendent)Â Mrs. Christine Johns needs to act responsibly!"
- "If my child had to walk or wait for a bus, I'd absolutely keep him home!"
