Police believe there are more young victims out there who were targeted by this man.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — An 18-year-old Dearborn man faces felony charges for soliciting nude photographs from a 13-year-old St. Clair Shores girl and threatening her via social media. According to police, the man was talking to the girl on Snapchat, pressuring her to send a nude photograph. Once he received it, he threatened to expose her if she didn’t send more, police said.

St. Clair Shores Police and the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement unit of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office worked together to track the man. He was arrested at his home on March 23 and taken to the Macomb County Jail.

On March 26 he was arraigned and charged with accosting children for immoral purposes, communicating with another via computer to commit crime, extortion and using a computer to commit crime. The latter two charges are the most severe; both 20-year felonies.

“I urge young people who feel pressured or suspicious to go to a parent or trusted adult,” Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said in a press release. “I encourage parents to talk with their children about the levels of danger of the internet, specifically speaking with people they do not know on a personal level.”
Wickersham recommends that parents know what their children are doing online, including which apps they are using and who they are interacting with.

“It’s not an invasion of privacy, it’s a matter of keeping your children safe,” he added.

Anyone who believes that they or their child had inappropriate contact with Cherri is asked to call 586-463-4191.
