Michigan Beaches Close Due To High Bacteria Levels

These Michigan beaches were found to have increased levels of bacteria, according to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

MICHIGAN — Several Michigan beaches are facing closures due to an increased bacteria level, according to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, which has flagged five Michigan beaches for elevated bacteria levels:

  • Lake St. Clair - St. Clair Shores Memorial Park Beach in Macomb County
  • Kiwassee Lake - Stratford Woods Park Beach in Midland County
  • Wolf Lake - Sunset Park in Muskegon County
  • Mona Lake - Mona Lake Park Beach in Muskegon County
  • Lake St. Helen - Richfield Township Public Fishing Site in Roscommon County

The Beach Guard site gives the public information on beach water quality across the state. It includes water sampling results and daily updates on which beaches are under advisories or have been closed.
