St. Clair Shores Man Charged In Coney Island Stabbing

The 21-year-old man has been charged with assault with intent to murder after allegedly stabbing a security guard during a fight.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — A St. Clair Shores man has been charged in the stabbing of a security guard working at a downtown Detroit Coney Island in the early morning of Sept. 7.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged David Michael Golze, 21 for the non-fatal stabbing of a 31-year-old security guard in front of a coney island restaurant in the 100 block of West Lafayette in downtown Detroit.

The victim was a 31-year-old Royal Oak man working in the capacity as a security guard. An argument between the group and the guards escalated into a fight in front of the restaurant, authorities said. It is alleged that Golze then stabbed the victim. When the victim discovered he was bleeding, he flagged down Detroit police officers who transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Golze has been charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, two counts of felonious assault, and assault and battery. He was given a $150,000 cash/surety bond.
