Travis In St. Clair Shores Named One Of Best Diners In Country
The breakfast is a deal, but those burgers are not to be missed, Thrillist says.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — The city put Michigan on the map again in the latest foodie roundup by Thrillist. Travis diner in St. Clair Shores has been listed as one of the top diners in the country, according to the site. They touted the “American ideal” the diner embodies and its signature breakfast deal. But you can’t forget the burgers. And Thrillist says they are some of the best burgers in the whole state.
“Harkening back to the days when ‘coffee shop’ had less to do with cute little flowers in latte foam and everything to do with blue-collar workers perched on stools at a greasy spoon, Travis is a callback to a certain American ideal,” Thrillist says. “It's a place where two eggs, hash browns, toast, a piece of sausage, a hunk of ham, and three slices of bacon will still run you about $6 24/7 and where a sack of six cheeseburgers runs $9.50. About those burgers: They're among the best in Michigan, simple affairs with grilled onions and a bouncy bun that are great any time, but best enjoyed while sitting on the hood of a car at 3am.”
Travis, located at 23500 Greater Mack Ave., is under its third generation of leadership.
“Travis Coffee Shop opened its doors under Paul and Nita McAdory in 1968, selling five of our famous sliders for just a dollar,” the website says. “Although the prices have changed over time not much else has.”
