3 Troy Grads Receive Scholarships as Future Educators
The Alpha Delta Kappa scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who plan to major in education.

The Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Sorority of Women Educators, recently announced that Alta Duda, Michael Fair, and Alyssa Primeau as recipients of the Alpha Delta Kappa Ruth Wass Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to seniors in the Troy School District who plan to major in education.
Arta, the daughter of Theodhor and Natasha Duda, is a 2012 graduate of Troy High School who is attending Wayne State University. She has been a teacher of English in the Albanian community. Arta has been active in student government, Project Lead, and Spanish Club.

Michael, the son of Larry and Tracey Fair, is a 2012 graduate of Athens High School who is attending Oakland University. He will be majoring in elementary education. Michael has been a member of the symphonic band and symphony orchestra. He has been a music tutor, swim instructor, and life guard.
Alyssa, the daughter of Mariane Harris and Ed Primeau, is a 2012 graduate of Athens High School. She attends Oakland University and plans to major in music education. Alyssa was a section leader in the Red Hawk Marching Band and principal flute of the symphony band. She was chosen to be a LINK student who leads a special needs student to class and assists in that student’s participation in the school community.

This Alpha Delta Kappa scholarship is named in honor of Ruth Wass, a charter member of the Alpha Upsilon chapter which was founded in Troy in 1964. Ruth, who turned 99 in May, spent 45 years in education and retired in 1978 as Director of Reading for the Troy School District. Wass Elementary is named in her honor.
